A Small Page for those who are Fascinated by Stereograms!
Directions for looking at these things: When viewing Text Stereograms you should be able to see the words in horizontal layers. Either cross your eyes as you look at the image, or stare "through" the image until it becomes blurred. Keep staring and the layers should appear. Generally, these images are easier to see on a monitor than on a paper page.
- The Crater [60K] is a classic one, hidden here in a malachite-like surface. You can even start seeing it while it's loading! This image was made with a wonderful program for Windows 95 called WINSIRDS by E.S.G Software.
- This text stereogram is in color and you can make these kinds of stereograms with Adobe Photoshop.
- For a simpler kind of text stereogram that you can make with your text editor, take a look at this one.
I was inspired to put up the text stereograms by Daniel Sillescu's book, The Magic PC Stereogram Book (1997, $16.99). It's published by SYBEX Inc. and comes complete with software to help you make really fancy stereograms. It costs much less at amazon.com. Once there, select Search from the top of the left column and when the search page comes up, enter Daniel Sillescu in the name box and click the "Exact Name" button below.
