Marie Combs Artist Card - c. 1975 To achieve a rubber stamp effect I used some Caslonish wood type printed on rough textured Gainsborough cover stock. I was after a rubber stamp effect because that was the primary medium used by this artist. The small type is Sans Serif Light, Baltimore's issue of Koch's Kabel. I (now) especially DON'T like the non-use of initial caps. But, this was my all lowercase phase and it did pass--thank goodness. Also, beginning printers (and maybe some old ones), be sure you always put the year on anything like invitations, posters, announcements, etc. With the year it becomes a record, without the year, it is truly a piece of ephemera. NOTE: Marie Combs was an incredibly talented printmaker in Kalamazoo; thankfully I have a couple of her works. And, a piece of trivia here: She is the mother of Holly Marie Combs the lead actor of the long running series "Charmed" on American Television.
