Used Grands When urban populations started growing, the market for smaller grands had arrived. And, the "baby" grand was born. These are grands between 4'6" and 5'6". They would fit easily into the city dweller's apartment, and still bring that touch of class. On many of the babies from this period, the scaling can be improved upon, thus making the piano sound better even than when it was new.

By acquisitions and trades, I seem to be specializing in small grands made between 1900 and 1930. Generally these animals seem to need exactly the same kind of work:
  • new pinblock
  • new strings (some need rescaling)
  • new dampers
  • key refurbishing
  • action reconditioning
  • case work (varies considerably from piano to piano)
When you get a grand with a new pinblock, strings, etc., that piano is set for another 50 years at least, providing it gets regular tuning and occasional regulation.

If you are interested in a getting a small grand. Call me. I can help find one that will definitely improve the quality of your life! It may take a little time, but the wait will be worth it. Visit the next page to find out how the process of finding a piano for you works.
