Benches & Stools
I have acquired many pianos and only two (2) have come with a bench!
Even when I got my own piano (a family piano)
from my cousin, she kept the stool! I was only able to get it by buying
a new reproduction stool and trading it for the original.
For a while, I thought I would stock some stools and benches and then decided against that because tastes are so different. However, all sorts, styles, sizes, and prices are available. I tend to recommend a swivel stool for the old uprights and benches for the grands. If people of significantly various sizes play the same piano, I definitely recommend an adjustable something--bench or stool.
I have one supplier of serviceable reproduction stools in shiny black, mahogany,
and walnut. These are in two styles and cost $185 or $210. Then there are the
benches with tops which open for music storage. These run around $170.
Padded ones are more. These are *not adjustable*.
